All Occasion Skin Preparation
The life of your tan depends on your preparation, after care, exfoliation process (which everyone's is a little different), as well as life style. If you follow these instructions, they will guide you to getting the most out of your spray tan.
Spray Tan Preparation and Maintenance
There should be no tan lines. Tan lines can not be completely covered. They will blend in but not be completely invisable.Waxing should be done at least 72 hours prior to your tan. If you are new at waxing allow 7-10 days before your tan.
Day Before Tan
Shave – 24 hours before tan. This allows skin to repair before tanning session.
Exfoliate. VERY IMPORTANT. This removes dead skin cells and helps PH Balance your skin. I recommend using exfoliating gloves rather than a washcloth or loofa. Refrain from scrubs that contain oils unless it’s more than 1 day before tanning session. Oils can leave a film and block the spray tan absorption. Skin should not have remnants from old spray tan. I recommend ‘Get Buffed’ – I have it in stock for $13
Shower – No bar soaps(ever). I recommend Schmidts All Natural Body Wash for $8 or less expensive brands like White Rain or Suave Essentials Body Wash for $3 – I have both in stock
Day Of Tan
Shower at least 4 hours before the tan. Rinse only. No soap, no moisturizer, no deodorant. Showering right before the session will hydrate the skin and open the pores. This causes the spray tan solution to bead and not be absorbed. Deodorant will cause the tan to turn green. The green color will wash away but looks strange before the shower.
Do NOT exfoliate, shave or wax as the product can create a skin barrier & cause streaking & patches.
Remove all jewelry
Wear loose clothing after the tan.
- Acceptable – sundress, loose, washed sweat pants, loose t-shirt or tank top, flip flops
- Unacceptable – Yoga pants, jeans, tight spandex, elastic waist pants, socks, sneaker, closed shoes
Allow 8-10 hours for the tan to develop. Do not sweat or get wet during this time. I recommend sleeping in the tan and showering the next morning.
Refrain from using any brand of bar soaps. Soaps and many body lotions contain drying alcohols that strip and fade the tan. I recommend using Schmidts All Natural Body Wash or less expensive brands like White Rain or Suave Essentials body wash.
Additional Information
Rain will ruin a tan. Do not get caught in the rain.
What to Wear
For women clothing is optional, but do remember where ever you leave clothing there will be distinct tan lines. Think about what you will be wearing after your tan. Bring a dark swimsuit or undergarments to your session. Thongs are acceptable. I also supply a paper thong and a hair net, if needed. Women, avoid wearing tight bras several hours after your spray tan. Tight clothes – Do not wear tight clothes until the initial rinse off. Avoid bras.

After Care
Your tan will last 5-6 days and longer with after care products! " After your spray tan DO NOT shower, swim, and avoid perspiring for at least 6-8 hours.
For the first shower following your tan, if possible just do a warm rinse and wash personal areas with a mild or moisturizing soap. The color that was immediately visible during the tanning session will wash away during the first shower, revealing the DHA bronze tan beneath. Your tan is not washing down the drain. Don't panic.
When you shower DO NOT use hot water or any type of exfoliate product this can fade your tan faster. Be gentle and DO NOT scrub.
DON'T USE THESE SOAPS AFTER YOUR SPRAY TAN...DOVE, IRISH SPRING, ANTIBACTERIAL DIAL, OR ZEST. THESE SOAPS WILL STRIP THE TAN OFF.
After showering, blot dry with your towel, air drying is preferred.
After showering DO Apply Moisturizer liberally to hydrate your skin twice a day to prolong your tan.
Time spent in hot tubs or Jacuzzi's, saunas or swimming pools with chlorine may shorten the duration of the tan.
Excessive sweating any time after your spray tan may cause it to rub off on clothing, but it does wash out!
Tanning Fact Sheet
The spray tan is applied in approximately 5 minutes! Then allow about 15 minutes to dry.
The Spray tan will last five to seven days or longer with a Tan Extender and Moisturizer.
Your skin dries quickly, does not feel sticky and has no bad odor. Your skin smells fresh and clean.
The Tan will fade similar to that of a natural sun tan when given proper after care.
It does NOT streak. Your tan will be perfectly even, just like you spent the day in the sun.
The primary active ingredient in our solution and in most self-tanners is DHA (dihydroxyacetone), produced from pure sugar cane and is FDA approved for self-tanning applications.
DHA works with the amino acids in your skin to produce a natural looking tan with NO orange discoloration.
Medications can affect your results. For best results use a PH Balanced scrub. GET BUFFED IS RECOMMENDED. For your convenience, I carry this product.
There have not been any reported side effects from the use of DHA.
If you have ever had an allergic reaction to self-tanners, we recommend that you abstain from spray tanning.
